Keybiotics Overview

Keybiotics is a probiotic supplement sold as a way of not only improving your digestive health, but also as a way to lose weight. It comes in pill form, and are supposedly designed and made so that they ensure the survival of the probiotic bacteria all the way through your digestive tract to the small intestine, where they can do their work. Each bottle comes with 30 pills, which give you one month of use at 1 pill per day. Each capsule is meant to be taken with a meal. The pills are free of lactose and gluten, making them fine to consume for people with those allergies. A one-month supply costs $40, and the website states that as of now the product can't be shipping until two weeks after you order – which would be a major hassle for most customers.

Keybiotics is made by a company called Whole Body Research, LLC, a health supplement company based in California. They don't have a very wide line of products on offer, with their main website only listing 7 total supplements on offer. They're received some criticism mainly from customers, via their Better Business Bureau page. Customers complained that they were charged for products they did not order, had problems getting their refunds, or that they experienced terrible customer service.

Keybiotics Claims

Keybiotics is supposed to do what probiotics generally are advertised as doing – improving digestive health, boosting immunity (due to the importance of gut flora in the fight against certain pathogens) – but also claims to be effective at helping prevent obesity and weight gain. This is an unusual claim for a probiotic supplement, as they usually limit their claims to the above two claims.

Keybiotics Ingredients

Keybiotics has a number of different probiotic strains, including:

  • Lactobacillus acidophilus
  • Bifidobacterium lactis
  • Lactobacillus plantarum
  • Lactobacillus paracasei

Lactobacillus acidophilus is a very popular strain of probiotic bacteria, found not only in the digestive tract but also in some fermented dairy products. Bifidobacterium lactis is used in supplemental form to improve digestive health and as a way to prevent constipation. Lactobacillus plantarum can also be found commonly in probiotic supplements, not only for digestion but for supposed pleasant neurological effects from stimulating certain mood hormones.

Lactobacillus paracasei is used to help some people with poor gut flora populations to inhibit the growth of some pathogens.

It should be noted that probiotic strains are not always good for everyone, and can cause some unhealthy and painful side effects in some people including diarrhea, constipation, and bloating.

The Science Behind Keybiotics

Notice anything about the ingredients listed above? None of them had anything to do with weight loss. That's right: while most of the strains have been the subject of some noted scientific studies demonstrating some health benefits when it comes to the digestive tract, none of them have, to our knowledge, caused any sort of weight loss or anti-fat properties.

This is unusual, as typically you'll see companies that sell weight loss supplements try to find some sort of contrived or far-fetched explanation for how their product is supposed to help you lose weight, but Keybiotics doesn't even do this. They just claim that it can, without offering any insight as to how. And now you know why: it's because these ingredients can't.

Word on the Street About Keybiotics

We wanted to see what users though of this product, so we searched around for customer reviews. On Amazon it seemed like a super popular product, with an almost 5-star rating out of over 600 reviews. However, we learned that over 50% of all their Amazon reviews were likely fake or untrustworthy, according to FakeSpot. “High deception” may be involved, they said.

Other customers said that “it's pricey, and it didn't really seem to help me at all,” while others said that “no changes in my health were noted” and “even after using this for a month, it didn't help me at all.” Several users said that it was a waste of money, which is a harsh criticism.

We've looked at lots of weight loss pills, but these are the best.

Is Keybiotics Worth Trying?

If you're looking to lose weight, this really doesn't seem like the product to use, and that's for more than one reason. For one, it's slightly higher in price than many of its competitors, and it appears that you can only get it from the main website. The company has been criticized by people for customer service problems and issues with refunds. The ingredients have nothing to do with weight loss and could cause side effects for some people.

Most telling, however, is the fact that one meta review analyzer determined that over half of all the product's Amazon reviews were likely fake or solicited, pointing to a vast campaign of deception to make people think that the product is much better than it really is.

This product just loses on all counts, and we would definitely recommend staying away from it.

Keybiotics vs Probiotics

We've seen these two search terms being compared and question asked about them, so we wanted to clear up some confusion here: Keybiotics is a probiotic, so the one is in fact the other. There are some differences between Keybiotics and other probiotics, however. The main thing is that most probiotics don't claim to help you lose weight, while Keybiotics does. Other probiotics can be had for much cheaper than Keybiotics, and can end up coming with more (and higher numbers of) helpful bacteria to make them more effective.

Also, other probiotics companies don't usually solicit or fake hundreds of positive reviews on their Amazon product pages to encourage users to buy them.
