Buying a good diet product doesn’t come down to ingredients and calories alone. There are lots of things to consider as a customer, to make sure not only that you’re getting the best quality product for your money, but to make sure that it doesn’t come with any side effects and is made by a reputable company. We decided to look into a recent diet pill and see if it measures up to what people should expect of it. What we learned was very different. Read on for more.

Skinny Fiber Overview

Skinny Fiber is a diet pill designed to make it easier to lose weight. It’s a plant-based product that comes in bottles of 120, with 60 servings per bottle. At the rate of the recommended 2 pills per day, the average customer should be able to use it for 2 months before having to order another bottle. These pills are meant to be taken with plenty of water. Skinny Fiber appears to only be available for purchase if you are referred to it by a “distributor,” which brings us to the next point: who makes it?

Skinny Fiber is made by Skinny Body Care, a multi-level marketing company based in Utah. As a multi-level marketing company, they recruit “distributors” to market and sell their products for them, for which they get a commission. MLMs have come under fire for being structurally very close to illegal pyramid schemes, as the salespeople end up having to buy the products themselves (in order to sell them) and their superiors make a fraction of whatever salespeople purchase or sell, meaning there’s little reason to try and sell a good product – since the company makes money whether customers buy them or not.

Skinny Fiber Claims

Skinny Fiber’s claims are pretty diverse. They’re primarily intended to block hunger, making it easier to successfully stay on a diet. However, they’re also supposed to help digestive health, remove toxins from the body, and increase the metabolism. By increasing metabolism Skinny Fiber claims to make women burn more calories more easily, making it easier to lose weight than with other pills. By taking the product, not only are women supposed to lose weight, but they’re also supposed to keep it off longer.

Skinny Fiber Ingredients

Skinny Fiber has a decently-sized list of ingredients, the majority of which you can find below:

  • Glucomannan
  • Caralluma Fimbriata
  • Cha de Bugre
  • Amylase
  • Protease
  • Lipase
  • Papain
  • Bromelain

Glucomannan is a fiber derived from a tuberous root, and is supposed to help people lose weight. There’s no evidence that it does this, though, as studies show (Keithley, joyce, et al: “Safety and Efficacy…” J Obes, 2024). Cha de Bugre is a plant from Brazil that’s considered similar to coffee, and is used for weight loss, but there’s “insufficient evidence” that it has any medical value at all (WebMD).

Amylase is an enzyme that aids in digestion, added to follow up on the “better digestion” promise of the product. Papain is an enzyme derived from the papaya fruit that’s supposed to help with inflammation, so not only are we not sure why it’s in a weight-loss product, but it also comes with side effects including stomach irritation and throat damage (WebMD).

Here are the best weight loss pills on the market, based on graded factors.

The Science Behind Skinny Fiber

Ingredients like glucomannan and cha de bugre are supposed to be natural, healthy ways to increase the amount of weight you lose, while ingredients like amylase and papain are supposed to help your digestion by providing additional enzymes. As we’ve seen, though, there’s not much science behind the weight-loss ingredients – with at least one of them (cha de bugre) having no evidence for or against – but there’s the potential to have side effects from the papain.

Word on the Street About Skinny Fiber

It’s not easy to find reviews of Skinny Fiber, since you can only get it from the company directly – and they don’t have public customer reviews. It used to be sold on Amazon, however, so we checked that page out and found that the response from customers was mainly negative.

Some said that “it helped control my appetite” and “this helped me lose 40 lbs in half a year!” One “positive” review said that they “haven’t lost any weight yet” however, which makes us wonder why they gave the product 4 stars.

Other customers (50% of them) said that the product doesn’t work. “I’m starving, no appetite control in these pills” one opined, while others said they “weren’t impressed” and that it “doesn’t work.” Others reported “headaches” and that they “still gained weight.”

These are the most highly-acclaimed natural weight loss pills.

Is Skinny Fiber Worth Trying?

We don’t see a reason for anyone to take this product. Not only is the company behind it an MLM, meaning that their business practice isn’t geared toward providing products that work, the ingredients themselves have almost no science to back them up – worse, some have uncomfortable side effects that should make anyone think twice before using it.

The biggest reason we see to not use it is its reception among customers. A full 50% of people who used it gave it 2 out of 5 stars or less, meaning that the majority of people who used it thought it wasn’t worth their time or money.

If you value your health, you owe it to yourself to stay far, far away from these pills, and try something else that’s got a better chance of working.

Skinny Fiber vs Plexus

Despite the fact that both of these products come from multi-level marketing companies (meaning you can’t just buy them outright, but need a “referral” from a “distributor”), these are very different products. Skinny Fiber is a pill, while Plexus (“Plexus Slim”) is a shake. Both are intended to help you lose weight faster than through exercise and diet alone. Both contain fiber, but while Skinny Fiber contains fiber that’s supposed to help you lose weight more quickly, Plexus contains a special fiber that’s meant to promote prebiotic gut flora.

Skinny Fiber vs Metamucil

These are very different products, as far as their purposes are considered. Both contain fiber, but that’s about all they have in common. Skinny Fiber is a weight loss pill, while Metamucil is a straightforward fiber supplement that’s meant to help you stay regular, control blood sugar levels, and keep your appetite under control. Skinny Fiber can only be purchased via “distributors” while Metamucil is a supplement you can buy anywhere from Rite Aid to Walgreens.

Skinny Fiber vs Lipozene

These products make similar claims. Both claim to not only help you burn fat faster (by increasing metabolism) but also to control the appetite as well. Both contain stimulants, Lipozene containing caffeine and Skinny Fiber having cha de bugre. You can buy Lipozene online for about $20, while we weren’t able to find out how much Skinny Fiber is because you have to buy it through their direct-sales distributor system.
