TestroVax is a men’s testosterone supplement made by Novex Biotech, a supplement company that focuses mainly on workout products for men. By inducing more testosterone, all of the effects this hormone’s supposed to have are supposed to increase dramatically over time. This means we’re promised bigger muscles and more endurance in the gym. We’re also supposed to see fat just melt away from our bodies. But let’s look at the company, first.

Who is Novex Biotech? Their name sounds pretty cool and technological, but who are they really? We really don’t know. That’s because this company has almost no online presence of its own. When you type in its name, all you get is references to some products that they’ve made, but that’s all. No main website, no information on who they are, who runs the company, what their history of customer satisfaction is. People generally like to know if the company they’re buying from is legit and qualified to make the product they’re selling – but in this case, we’re left with a ghost company that exists only as text in the “Terms and Conditions” of the supplements they supposedly make. They have a profile on the Better Business Bureau, but all we have is some contact info, and the “Website” link links us to one of their products.

TestroVax is on the middling-to-high side, price-wise, at $62.99 per bottle. It can be had some places for a few dollars less, but it stays more or less around this area. The company says that you should cease taking this product after a month, and that this rest period should last two to four more weeks, implying that this product is supposed really take a toll on the body.

It’s advertised as “clinically tested,” but when you think about it for more than a second, you realize that that’s very different from “clinically-proven.” You can test something all you want, and even if it doesn’t work, you can still technically put “clinically tested” on it and not be lying. Always pay attention to the wording in marketing, otherwise you could get caught off-guard.

TestroVax Ingredients

TestroVax has a large list of ingredients that are mostly plant-based. Here’s a list of some of the main ones:

D-aspartic acid is an amino acid that’s supposed to be able to induce the body to make more testosterone by stimulating receptors in the testes. As more testosterone is released into the blood, the hormone activates all the key systems of the body that this product is supposed to affect, including muscle regeneration and fat loss. This ingredient is a common part of “science-based” testosterone supplements, because it was subjected to a clinical trial. What were the results of that trial? We’ll get to that.

Fenugreek is supposed to be a natural aphrodisiac, and can be used to reduce inflammation as well.

L-Arginine is another amino acid, this but this one works differently from d-aspartic acid: instead, it converts into nitric oxide, which widens the blood vessels for more blood flow, which can bring oxygen to the muscles quicker, as well as promote more blood flow to the extremities – like the penis.

We’re not really sure why Knotweed was included in this product. It’s not known for doing much other than as an anti-inflammatory. It has nothing to do with energy, sex, or testosterone, so its inclusion in this product is a mystery.

Ashwagandha is a plant extract used in ancient Indian folk medicine as a way to promote a bigger sex drive, as it’s supposed to have an effect on testosterone. Problem is that it comes with some side effects, and the science behind it is iffy, which we’ll cover in the next section.

Schizonepeta is an herb used in Chinese medicine, and it supposedly has some effect on reducing inflammation (Wikipedia). Again, why was this included, if it has no effect on testosterone?

The Science Behind TestroVax

The science here is a little weak, to be honest. D-aspartic acid was subjected to a trial in 2024 (Topo, et al) where there was a 42% increase in testosterone observed in the subjects – hence the same claim by TestroVax on its product pages. Sounds legit, right? The problem is that other tests have found no real correlation between d-aspartic acid and an increase in testosterone, and in a 2024 overview by researchers gathering all of the evidence for d-aspartic acid, they found that there hasn’t been enough studies done to prove that it actually works (Roshanzamir, Safavi, 2024).

Other ingredients in this product don’t fare much better. Knotweed may help with inflammation and pain by preventing cytokine release (a chemical precursor to pain response), but it’s onl been tested on animals, and has no effect on testosterone from what we’ve read (Wikipedia).

Ashwagandha is a popular herbal ingredient for supplements that have to do with testosterone and sexuality, but the truth is that the evidence for it working is pretty scant.

There’s “insufficient evidence” for it working for any of the purposes it’s used for, except for the possibility of increasing the “quality of sperm” (WebMD). Otherwise, there’s definitely no proof that it makes you more virile or more full of testosterone. Plus, it comes with side effects like upset stomach and diarrhea – things that would make you think twice about using it even if it did work.

You can find reviews for this product on Amazon, where at first it appears like it’s gotten a good reception: 3.7 out of 5 stars. There’s two problems with this, though. One is the fact that there are only 22 reviews – not a lot, by any standard – and the second is the fact that according to FakeSpot (which measures reviews for quality) as many as 20% of reviews of this product are likely fake. That’s a “C” grade. Makes you think twice about trusting them.

The company that makes it has no real presence, the ingredients in the supplement have either weak evidence or no evidence that they work, and customers haven’t exactly been turning out in droves to talk about how they love it. That, and we can’t even be sure which reviews to trust, throwing the whole thing into doubt.

The one thing we can say is that there are other products out there that have better ingredients and more customer support. We’d suggest going with one of those first before risking your money on a gamble like TestroVax.

TestroVax vs Nugenix

The main difference we see between these supplements is the focus: TestroVax seems to be intended for men of any age, while Nugenix is marketed more specifically for men who are over 50 and want to increase the testosterone they’ve lost due to aging. Both of these products contain fenugreek and vitamins B6 and B12, but it looks like TestroVax contains more plant-based ingredients. Nugenix is also sold via its own website, and comes with a free trial offer, but one that comes with a catch: you have to sign up for an auto-billing plan that will charge your card if you don’t cancel before the deadline.

These products were both made by the same company, Novex Biotech, but they differ in their actions.
