This product makes some pretty reasonable claims, but unfortunately the science doesn’t back them up.
Despite claims that it can increase your testosterone levels, we’ve yet to see any conclusive proof that Animal Stak follows through. Read below for our in-depth review:
Check out our list of the best male enhancement supplements.
Animal Stak Overview
Animal Stak is a supplement from Universal Nutrition that’s aimed at men who want to improve their performance both in the gym and in the bedroom. It’s supposed to drive your body to create and circulate more testosterone, which can equal more muscle, shorter recovery time, and a higher sex drive. They claim it’s based on natural ingredients and pure science, with no steroids or illegal products.
Is this really the product that’s going to kick your testosterone levels and your virility to the next level? Well, after what we’ve discovered, it turns out that this supplement doesn’t 100% deliver on its promises.

Animal Stak Claims
This is one of those supplements that’s supposed to be based on practical, simple, scientific principles, the main point of which is testosterone production. The blend of ingredients in this product is supposed to not only promote increased testosterone production, but to free it up so that existing testosterone isn’t “bound” and can freely join up with hormone receptors around the body. It’s also supposed to limit estrogen production, so that estrogen and testosterone don’t have to compete for dominance. This, plus the litany of vitamins and minerals, is supposed to help men to increase their muscle size more efficiently, have the strength and endurance to push through harsh workouts, and have the support their sex drive needs for a healthy libido.
Universal Nutrition, the company behind these claims, has been around since 1977 since they were founded in New Jersey. They manufacture a wide array of different workout supplements and seem to be doing alright for themselves.
Each “barrel” (for lack of a better word) of Animal Stak contains 21 packs, so if you’re meant to take them once every day you’re working out (which for many people is every day, with one day off), one of these shipments would barely cover a month, meaning if you’d like to get the full effects of the product over time, you’d have to buy more than one in a month to cover the extra days.
Here’s a list of the top male sexual supplements, based on ratings and reviews.
Animal Stak Ingredients
Animal Stak has such a big list of ingredients, we couldn’t possibly cover them all. Here are some of the main ones we came across:
- Tribulus Terrestris
- Eurycoma longifolia
- Zinc
- Maca
- Diindolylmethane
- Quercetin
- Milk Thistle
- Ashwagandha
Tribulus terrestris is an herbal remedy for a number of things, but it’s usually used as an aphrodisiac. It’s thought to affect the sex drive by influencing testosterone levels – one of the hormones associated with higher libido.
Eurycoma longifolia is another name for tongkat ali, another aphrodisiac thought to help the sex drive by improving levels of testosterone in the blood.
Zinc is a common mineral, one that’s mainly associated with immune function. Some claim that this mineral correlates with increased levels of testosterone, but there’s a problem with that idea that we’ll discuss in the next section.
Maca is a plant native to Peru that’s supposed to regulate hormone output, which is why it’s used for both men and women in areas like sexual function and menstrual cycle management.
Diindolylmethane is a compound found mainly in “cruciferous” vegetables (such as broccoli, cauliflower, kale) that some think has an inhibiting effect on estrogen levels, which is why many “natural” workout supplements use it. With less estrogen in the blood, the theory goes, testosterone will have less competition and really be able to go to work. Is that theory sound, though? We’ll see.
Quercetin is what’s called a “bioflavonoid,” which is just a fancy way of saying “antioxidant.” Antioxidants are supposed to help prevent routine wear-and-tear on cells.
Ashwagandha is an ancient Indian herb used to increase sex drive and vigor, and it’s supposed to do this by increasing testosterone levels as well.

The Science Behind Animal Stak
Some of the ingredients in this product are pretty popular, and some even have some mild research supporting claims made about them such as tribulus – although its effectiveness may have more to do with its ability to increase circulation by widening blood vessels (Qureshi, A: “A systematic review …” J Diet Suppl, 2024).
Other ingredients don’t have as much science backing them up.
Zinc is a mineral that the body needs, but since it’s usually included in supplements like this with the promise that it increases testosterone, we have to look at that specific claim. Unfortunately, the only study we’ve seen that claims this (Prasad, Mantzsoros, et al, 1996) actually found that more zinc shows no real correlation with higher testosterone – whoops.
We’ve looked, and we haven’t found much evidence that supports the idea that diindolylmethane reduces estrogen levels – a key promise that Animal Stak makes. That is, of course, with the exception of a study done on patients with thyroid disease where diindolylmethane was seen to have some “antiestrogenic activity” (Rajoria, S, et al: “3,3′-diindolylmethane…” Thyroid, 2024). That’s not rock-solid proof that it will lower estrogen levels in men enough to help increase overall testosterone levels in their blood, however. Plus, it turns out “more evidence is needed” to prove that diindolylmethane does any of what it’s claimed to do.
Ashwagandha doesn’t have much evidence that it works at all: in fact, despite the fact that many herbal practitioners swear by it, there’s “insufficient evidence” that it works, and it could cause side effects like nausea and upset stomach (“Ashwagandha,” WebMD).
It’s not that all of the ingredients in this product are bogus, but the intentions behind using some of them seem to be based on shaky evidence. This is doubly-bad when it concerns the ingredients that are supposed to deal with hormone regulation, since that’s the main function of Animal Stak. If that central promise isn’t supported by ingredients that work, how can we expect the product to work?

Word on the Street about Animal Stak
Animal Stak can be found numerous places, including the product’s main website, as well as Amazon, A1 Supplements, and Bodybuilding.com. It has its followers, but not all people who’ve used this supplement have seen many results worth noting:
“Didn’t notice any difference, despite following the instructions. Maybe it just don’t work for me.”
“I’ve seen awesome results, even though I’ve only used it for a week.”
“My energy levels didn’t really go up that much, although overall I guess it’s decent.”
“I saw a noticeable difference after taking this stuff. Worthwhile!”
One thing we wanted to point out is that, since most of the customer reviews weren’t very in-depth, it’s unclear “how” effective the stuff is beyond just giving people energy and helping them workout harder. No one commented about their sex drive or their testosterone and estrogen levels, so it’s possible that beyond giving people more energy and drive, it might not do much else.

Is Animal Stak Worth a Try?
That’s hard to say, really. On the one hand the company appears to be clean, professional and decent, and they don’t have any outstanding customer service problems that they’re resolving, nor are they in any lawsuits. The main problems we have with this product have to do with the ingredients, and the fact that many of the central ingredients that are supposed to affect hormone levels – which is the primary conceit behind this product – either have little evidence that they work or zero evidence, neither of which look good.
Customers seem to see some sort of a improvement in their workouts, but we didn’t see anyone commenting on whether it actually increased their testosterone levels and boosted their sex drives, so it’s not clear whether it’s effective or not.
All in all, you might want to hold off on this product, until more research can be done into the ingredients, or until there are some serious, trustworthy customer reviews showing definitively that Animal Stak follows through on its core promises.

Animal Stak vs M Stak
These are slightly different products, despite the similar names and the fact that they’re made by the same company. Animal Stak is meant to focus on hormone boosting and regulation, while M Stak is more focused on helping men gain muscle by promoting protein synthesis and limiting muscle breakdown. They’re about the same price, costing around $35 for a one-month supply. Both consist of mainly natural ingredients, plus vitamins and minerals, and the company even says that, while they’re intended for different purposes, you can even take them together.

Animal Stak vs Animal Pak
Again: similar names, same company, slight differences. Animal Stak is supposed to be a hormone-promoting supplement, while Animal Pak is more of a general all-around nutritional supplement. They both contain vitamins, minerals, and plant-based herbal supplements, but Animal Stak leans heavier on the herbal part, while Animal Pak contains a way more detailed and vast list of vitamins and minerals. Animal Stak is more expensive at .

95, while Animal Pak is only $15.95, but it seems like Animal Pak isn’t meant for any kind of specialization, thus the reduced price.
Animal Stak vs Test Freak
Both of these supplements promise the same thing: increase testosterone levels naturally. They both use mainly plant-based ingredients, but while Animal Stak uses ingredients like ashwagandha and diindolylmethane, Test Freak uses other ingredients like saw palmetto and fenugreek. Test Freak has a way more intense marketing angle, though, with bigger bolder colors, bolder claims, and a host of different bodybuilders as “ambassadors” of sorts, although Animal Stak (and its parent company) seem to have been around for longer, in case that’s important to you. Test Freak is a little more expensive ($39.98) than Animal Stak ($36.95).
Animal Stak vs GH Max
These products both come from the same company, but they’re aimed at doing different specific things altogether. Animal Stak is supposed to increase testosterone levels for better workouts and more stamina, while GH Max is focused on supporting the production of growth hormone, which can affect muscle size and support overall health during workouts. Animal Stak contains over 30 different ingredients(!) while GH Max only contains a handful, although both of these supplements share l-arginine and l-carnitine in common. GH Max is cheaper at around $25 for a container, compared to Animal Stak’s ($36.95). Both contain soy.
Animal Stak vs Animal Cuts
And once more, while both of these supplements come from the same company, they’re not formulated for the same exact purpose. While Animal Stak was formulated to help increase the amount of testosterone in your body (for all the workout and lifestyle effects it’s supposed to have), Animal Cuts is only meant for men who are “cutting,” as it contains ingredients meant to curb the appetite and decrease water retention for dropping excess weight. They’re about the same price: we found them for $36.95 and $35.59, respectively.
