  • 1 banana, peeled

  1. Place all these ingredients in one food processor and purée, or put in a bowl and then mash using a fork until smooth.

37. Peach, Pear, And Apple Puree

  • 1⅓ cup of peaches, peeled, pitted, plus diced
  • 1 cup of pears, peeled, cored, plus diced
  • 1 cup of Gala apples, cored, peeled, and diced
  • 2 tablespoons of water

How to make it:

  1. In a medium saucepan, place diced peaches, pears, and apples with the water.
  2. Bring to a boil, later reduce heat and simmer till all of the fruit is soft, around 10 minutes.
  3. For a coarser texture, you need mash using one potato masher or transfer to one food processor or blender and process until smooth. In order to freeze, transfer this mixture to one non-freezer gallon bag.
  4. Cut one small hole in bottom corner of the bag and then use it to squeeze/ pour the purées into the ice cube trays. Ensure you do not overfill. You only fill each cube up to its sides and not overflowing its sides.
  5. Cover each tray using aluminum foil and label. Now freeze for at least a day prior to transferring to gallon or quart freezer bags for long term storage.

38. Beets Puree

Ingredients:

  • 2 beets

How to make it:

  1. Preheat oven to 400ºF.
  2. Leave root and one-inch stem on beets; then scrub using a brush.
  3. Coat each beet in foil. Now bake at 400ºF for one hour or until tender.
  4. Remove from the oven; cool slightly.
  5. Trim off beetroot; later rub off skin. Now cut beets in half. Put in one food processor; process till smooth, adding water, one tablespoon at a time, if required, to attain desired consistency.

39. Parsnip And Chicken Puree

  • 1 ½ pounds of peeled and chopped parsnips
  • 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 4 cups of chicken broth
  • 3 chopped garlic cloves
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 peeled plus chopped apple
  • 1 peeled plus chopped potato
  • 1 ½ teaspoon of curry powder
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cumin
  • 1 ½ teaspoon of ground coriander plus some fresh for garnish
  • ½ teaspoon of ground ginger
  • Pepper and salt to taste
  • 4 teaspoons of lemon juice
  • ½ cup of plain yogurt

How to make it:

  1. First of all, heat oil and next add onion and parsnip. Cook for about seven minutes.
  2. Add the garlic and then cook till it releases a fragrance.
  3. Then, add broth, potato, coriander, curry powder, apple, ginger, water and cumin and let it boil. Lower the heat, cover plus simmer till the vegetables turn tender.
  4. Now puree the vegetables in one blender.
  5. Return to pot and then add lemon juice, pepper, and salt.
  6. Finally, add some fresh coriander and yogurt on top.

40. Turnip And Chicken Puree

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
  • Four sliced turnips including greens
  • 1 tablespoon of butter
  • ½ teaspoon of dried rosemary
  • 1 sliced onion
  • Pepper and salt to taste
  • ¼ cup of shredded carrot
  • 4 cups of chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons of sliced scallion greens

How to make it:

  1. First of all, heat butter and oil on medium heat.
  2. Add onion and then cook for about 5 minutes.
  3. Add turnips, rosemary, pepper and salt and stir. Cover and then cook for around 10 minutes.
  4. Now, add broth and allow it to boil. Afterwards, cook on simmer for ten minutes more.
  5. Add the greens, scallion greens, carrots, oil and salt. Cook till tender.
  6. Finally, puree in a blender.
